The .wiz semantic project file is our architectural moat — Adobe and DaVinci can't adopt it without starting from zero. Making that moat real outside the desktop app — for collaborative review, on-set metadata capture, and AI-native workflows — is what this role does.
The clearest example: Wiz-Live, our concept for collapsing the gap between production and post. Traditional film sets "slate" every take — a clapboard synced to timecode — so editorial, sound, and VFX can recover critical metadata after the fact (scene, take, camera, lens, who's who). It's valuable but slow, so many productions, including our own sister company Story, skip it. Wiz-Live's bet: link the shotlist directly to camera and computer at the moment of the take, so metadata is captured and attached automatically — with local inference (object detection, character tagging, ASR, proxying) layered on top. Done right, footage could be edited essentially as it's shot, with a rough assembly — director's favorite takes flagged — ready before the crew wraps for the day.
None of that works without a schema and pipeline that can take heterogeneous, high-frequency, on-set metadata and reliably link it to the right clip, in real time, in a way both editors and Wizard's AI can query later. That's this role.
About the role
Full-stack web engineer with database depth. Owns the web platform end-to-end: API design, schema, query performance, deploy. You'll build the collaborative layer on top of Wizard's primitives — a Frame.io-and-Figma hybrid: lightweight, collaborative editing and review tools built on the Wiz CLI the core team is already shipping.
